Murdock Clarence Finlayson
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Murdock Clarence Finlayson on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on June 2, 1938, Murdock was the son of the late John and Violet (Bonnar) Finlayson. Murdock worked at the Sydney Mines Wash Plant and Sydney Wash Plant for 38 years, until his retirement in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne (MacLean) Finlayson, his son Danny (Kelly), and granddaughter Breighanne. Also surviving are sisters Dorothy (Wilfred)Theriault, and Kay (Vic) Gale, Sydney Mines, brothers Jack, Walter (Brenda), and Alex (Annette), Sydney Mines and Russel (Helen) Ottawa, Ontario, numerous nephews and nieces, sister-in-law Violet Carroll, and brother-in-law Richard MacLean.
Besides his parents, Murdock was predeceased by his granddaughter Hope Elizabeth, sisters Kay, Johnena, Helen, and Dianne, brothers Danny, Solly and Louis and brothers-in-law John Lannigan and John Carroll, and sister-in-law Anita Finlayson.
At Murdock’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. If desired, donations in Murdock’s memory may be made to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society in CBRM. Expressions of sympathy can be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
